Abstract

Sixteen currently-broadcasting stations that play pagan metal or its immediate neighbours (viking, folk, Mittelalter-rock, pagan folk). Two families dominate the space: Radio Caprice’s single-genre Icecast channels out of Moscow, and German-language user-run stations on laut.fm. Every laut.fm entry was checked live — station API returned an active broadcast and the track playing at the time of writing is listed. Radio Caprice mounts are HTTP-only and could not be played from an HTTPS page, so they carry directory-reported status rather than a playback check.

Dedicated pagan / viking / folk metal channels

  • Origin: Kriens, Switzerland
  • laut.fm streams are HTTPS MP3 at 128 kbps and play in a browser tab, in Winamp/foobar2000/VLC, or in any Icecast-capable app. Each also resolves at https://<name>.stream.laut.fm/<name> if the shared host is busy.
  • Radio Caprice mounts are plain HTTP. Browsers on HTTPS pages block them as mixed content, so use a desktop player (VLC: Media → Open Network Stream) rather than pasting them into an address bar on a secure page. Port 8000/8004 mounts are 320 kbps, port 8002 is a 48 kbps low-bandwidth feed, and the :9xxx/; form is the legacy SHOUTcast mount.
  • Radio Caprice moves channels between servers periodically; if an IP stops answering, the current mount is listed on the channel’s page at radcap.ru.
  • Most of the German stations run scheduled shows rather than a fixed genre loop, so the pagan/viking blocks come and go through the day. Metalmaster Alf and Tiwaz Camp are the two that stay on-theme around the clock.
